In order to delete Tivoli from an AIX box, besides deleting the files (by
the way, there are some files in /usr/lib/X11/app-config or something like
that), you need to remove the Tivoli entries added on the following files:

/etc/rc.nfs (to start the oserv at restart)
/etc/services (to make clear to everybody that port 94 (by default) is
being used by the oserv)
/etc/inetd.conf (to allow the remote start/stop of the oserv)

Subject: Framework V3.2 for AIX Install Failure
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi,

Working on installing the Framework tool upon an F50/7025 running
AIX 4.2.1 I have observed the process failing during the "Distributing
Architecture Specific Server Database" stage. The failure seems
to be first ocurring at line 252 of install.cfg ( Post Config script ).
No
"wlookup" attempts seem to be working ( ie. a screen-full of possible
reasons for why it may be failing is produced ). Even "wlookup -a"
bears
no fruit. We have done and seen different things, and it is only fair
in
asking for help to describe these things for you:-

    1. Upon initial install encountered a failure and attempted another
    2. Upon 2nd attempt the /tmp filesystem filled up and the install
hung ( Note the cleanup approach used in point 33, below,
was not used entirely in this instance )..
    3. Process for removing Framework to allow for re-installation:-

            cd /
            /etc/Tivoli/oserv.rc stop
            umount /tmp/tmeCDROM
            rm -r /usr/local/Tivoli
            rm -r /tmp/.tivoli
            rm -r /var/spool/Tivoli

Is this inadequate to prepare the machine for re-installation of the

    Framework product.

    4. Things tried:-

            i. checked name resolution in conformance with install book
               - DNS based - seemed OK
ii. changed from simple encryption to none
iii. changed server specification from intra domain
convention to fully denoted on install panel.
            iv. tried with/without license key

We previously installed the Framework V3.2 product onto
a 570 AIX 4.2.1 machine with no problems.

Can someone help - this is a very frustrating problem. Thanks,

Simon Long
