tralertd is a special daemon for use with the NetView Host Connection (also
known as Service Point) to forward NetView events to a mainframe running
NetView/OS390. If you have not installed Service Point, or it is not
active, then tralertd will shut down immediately after you start it.
Normally this daemon is not registered. So if you don't have Service Point
installed, then you should de-register this daemon with the command
/usr/OV/bin/ovdelobject /usr/OV/lrf/tralertd.lrf
Most likely your problem with the snapshot is that you do not have write
permission to the map database. Use ovwls to find out and ovwperms to
change it. There are man pages on both these commands and on tralertd as
well.

Subject: tralertd
Hi,
I'm workinh with AIX 4.3 and Netview6000 5.0
I have a problem with tralerd daemon: when I run NV6000, I have a "warning:
tralertd daemon is not running but
is REGISTERED" ; with "ovstatus tralertd" I see: "OVs_NON_WELL_BEHAVED and
NOT RUNNING ",
but I'm not able to restart it (I try with SMIT too).
Is there anybody that could help me to resolve this problem?
Another question: with Create Snapshot on NV6000, I receive this messagge:
UNABLE TO CREATE A SNAPSHOT.
THE OPERATING SYSTEM RETURNED THE FOLLOWING ERROR:
NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY.
Is this a configuration problem, or what?
Best regards
Dimitri
