James (or anyone else) -
You mention that Unix does not have the attended MLM capabilities. I've
tried to accomplish that setup at remote locations by running both Netview
and MLM on an AIX box, giving Netview a seedfile that matches the IP ranges
that the MLM is monitoring. The functionality of MLM can be hard to test,
so I'm not positive it's working. Is there a flaw in this plan? Is there a
better way to accomplish this on AIX?

They differ mainly in detail rather than in function -
NetView for NT should be limited to situations where less than 10,000
objects are being managed (nodes, interfaces, segments, and networks).
NetView for NT uses ODBC by default, so you can use relational database
tools to create reports from the data; while UNIX uses sparse file
databases. Both can support additional RDBMS with RIM.
NetView for NT has the attended MLM function but UNIX does not. NetView
for NT will work with MLMs on any platform, but there is no MLM config tool
and no APM on NT.
NetView for NT can run rulesets but these must be created on NetView for
UNIX as the ruleset editor is not there yet. And NT rulesets cannot run
actions (no actionsvr) but this will probably be addressed in a later
release.
The UNIX version installs with the Tivoli Framework, the NT version does
not. Thus you must install it there if you wish to use the Tivoli
Integration Pack for NetvIew (TIPN) on NT.
There are probably more differences but there are of the same sort. You
have to study the details.

Dear all,
May anyone tell me what is the different between NetView for NT and
NetView for AIX?
Functions ? or any other things?
It seems the same in my view.
