I have Framework 3.2 (no Superpatch) and TEC 3.1 (both TMR & TEC are
NT), plus NetView for AIX V4 with PTF U453385, on AIX 4.2.1 I am trying
to integrate NetView traps into the TEC environment using nvserverd (not
the old tecad_nv adapter).
I have imported tecad_ov.baroc, tecad_nv6k.baroc and nvserverd.baroc (in
that order) into my TEC rulebase. I have also imported ov_default.rls
though I am a little unclear whether these rules are valid for my level
of the nvserverd TEC adapter???). I have also created an nvserverd
source on my TEC server. I have customised NetView via the smit panel
to configure for Tivoli and checked this looks OK in
/usr/OV/conf/tecint.conf. I have also ensured that the root user on the
NetView machine has access to the Tivoli Root Administrators Desktop.
Problem is no events in my TEC Sources window - in fact no NetView
events show in a wtdumprl so it looks like they are not leaving
NetView. Looking at the nettl log doesn't show any problems. nvserverd
is running OK and apparently takes the customisation quite happily.
Can anyone help with the following:
1) Where do I get documentation for my level of the TEC nvserverd
adapter? We only have NV V5 hardcopy manuals and I haven't found
anything in the NV 4 online manuals?
2) Do I need TEC 3.1 patches 0012 and 0030 as documented in the NV V5
Release Notes? If not, are there other patches required?
3) /usr/OV/conf/tecint.conf customisation - the TEC server name - the
TMR server thinks this machine is BUM0003. NetView is happy to ping
bum0003 and expands to the fully qualified domain name of
bum0003.company.co.uk - how critical is this and what has anyone got
working?
4) Are there any hooks to debug the nvserverd TEC link - I cannot find
any logs or traces to turn on?
5) Does ANYONE have this exact scenario working?

PS. Going to NV V5 is not an option as support for Optivity and
Transcend are mandatory - neither is expected with V5 for several
months.
