If you watch closely, you will see that when you get an Interface Down trap
from
netview (n), and the device in question has multiple interfaces, you will
also get
a Node Marginal trap. When the last interface goes down, you get a Node
Down
trap. The events follow the status propagation scheme. A segment (on the
map)
goes yellow and there is a Segment Marginal trap. When the last node on the
segment goes down you will get a Segment Down trap. When the last segment
in
a Network goes down, you get a Network Down trap. When things come up, the
go the other way. Interface up, Node up, Segment up, Network up. Down goes
with
red, Marginal goes with yellow, Up goes with green. The ones you are
probably
really interested in are Interface Down/Up, or, if they are single
interface devices,
then Node Down/Up (but you will get both at the same time in that case).

The ones about applications connecting to trapd are just Netview talking to
itself.
You will probably see one in trapd.log when you do a demand poll, for
instance.

Does any one know what Segment Marginal, Node Marginal and Network Marginal
traps mean?
Also what does n netmon-related Application connected to trapd. Mean?

These are all events generated from time to time on my Netview box.
