Hello,
We are currently trialing Netview and Ciscoworks 2000.
We are running on solaris 2.6.
The cisco product is almost intergrate into netview. In that i mean that
there is Cisco icons on the map and menu options to launch ciscoview ,
trafficdirector, etc.
Cw2k has two parts, Campus which is the updated Cisco Resource manager and
Enterprise which is Cwis 2.2 ( trafficdirector vlandirector, atmdirector
and user manager). Campus has the web interface.
There is now a link between cw2k and netview so as to update the cw2k
database from netview. It
basicily means that the cw2k will see new devices thru netview and you dont
have the maintenance of updating both databases.
This is called Management Connection
To connect the two packages tivoli needs the tivoli inventory management
package in addition to netview.
Currently we dont have this package for netview so I have not looked into
it further.
I have not looked into the performance side on the software yet but the
solaris server is well speced.
darren.

Are you referring to cw2000 on AIX? The product is not even GA! The Solaris
version works best. The AIX version is a performance hog, just take a look
at monitor for the JDE daemon.
cw2000 is a standalone product, if your enterprise is latge, I suggets that
you run it on Solaris.

Note: Some recipients have been dropped due to syntax errors.
Please refer to the "$AdditionalHeaders" item for the complete headers.
I see no reason why NetView AIX and CiscoWorks 2000 should not run on the
same machine. We had of them both running on a old 590H, very slowly, but
they were both running.
I would suggest you look at the specs for NetView and CiscoWorks in regards
to processor power, memory and disk space required for each, and then give
yourself a 30% increase for growth.
Regarding integration, CiscoWorks 4.0 add NetView menu options and symbols
and fields to NetView database. Also function that used NetView API's to
gather information from NetView databases.

Is there hope?,for those of us planning on NV/AIX/CiscoWorks2000 to share
one server.
Should we begin looking at other platforms for CIscoWorks2000?. We are
phasing out 3Com and replacing them with cat5000 & 5500.
I do not understand what you mean when you say, "similar integration has
with the CiscoWork 4.0 product"

Tivoli Verification ran a smoke test in lab and found that the Solaris and
NT versions of CiscoWorks 2000 do not appear to integrate with NetView
V5.1. The Beta version of CiscoWorks 2000 for AIX that we ran has the
similar integration has with the CiscoWork 4.0 product.
On Solaris and NT, since there is not integration with NetView, I do not
see a reason why both can not run on the same machine, if the machine is
big enough.

Hi, all
Does anybody know if CiscoWorks 2000 could be running on a
NetView 5.1?
Thanks. . .
