The move from V5.0 to V5.1 is a migration, but the move to V5.1.1 from V5.1
is just a patch.
You have to do the migration as you described it to get to V5.1. Then you
make a backup (of the whole system I say) before you install 5.1.1. The
install of 5.1.1, even if you run the snapshot script to make a pre-patch
backup of the your changed Netview files, only takes about an hour,
Framework included. You don't need to restore anything unless you have a
failure.

Subject: upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1.1
My question is this, I am going to upgrade my AIX 4.3.1 machine which is
currently on Framework 3.2 and Netview 5.0 to Framework 3.6 and Netview
5.1.1 (when the new CD is re-released). What is the overall steps to take?
According to the 5.1 release notes, I need to (1)backup the Netview
database, (2)uninstall Netview 5.0, (3)upgrade the Framework, (4)reinstall
Netview 5.1, and than (5)restore the 5.0 database. This seems simple
enough but I need to get this machine to 5.1.1. Do I need to backup the
Netview 5.1 database and install 5.1.1 patch than restore datebase, or can
I skip the first restore to 5.1, continue the upgrade to 5.1.1 and only
restore Netview databases one time?
