Thanks! I did a search on the pdf file and found at least 2
related SNMP bugs that may fix our "little" problem. I'll keep ya

you should install the latest patch kit for Unix 4.0d.
According to my colleagues there are also fixes for the snmpd in this
patch kit.
You can copy the patches from
ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/dunix/v4.0d/
Look for the files named duv40das00003-19990208.*
