I'm not sure what you are seeing on the map that has
a selection name that starts with Interface: but I believe that
those things, when I see them in the object database, are
stub objects, either hints or incomplete nodes, put there
because I have a !@oid or some other wildcard type of
entry in the seedfile. They prevent actual discovery of
the object. They go away when you do an ovtopofix -a.
That's my theory, anyway. You should not be seeing map
representation of these placeholder objects. They usually
only have a selection name and maybe ip hostname field.
The ~ operator, I believe, should need a ^ in it to make sure
the string occurs at the beginning; but I can't think of anything
that would have 'Interface' anywhere else in it so it does not
matter, probably.

Subject: Zombies in ovw database
Hi group,
I'd be interested in YOUR reactions to the following collection,
platform is AIX NetView5.1 (no 5.1.1 patch), Framework 3.6:
nvUtil g Zombies
Collection: Zombies
Description:
Rule: ((('isNode' = True) && (!('isIP' = True))) || ('Selection
Name'
~ 'Interface'))
Translation:
(isNode = TRUE and isIP != TRUE) or (Selection Name starting with
"Interface...")
Puzzled. Getting weird stuff in that collection.
Cordially, Ralph.
