I have worked on this product since 1996 and I have never seen nvcorrd take
100% of the CPU under any circumstances.
I don't know what to make of your ping issue. On all versions of AIX I
have ever worked on ping goes continuously unless you issues it with
options to stop it after a certain number of times. See the man page on
ping. Ping by itself is a TCP/IP command not a NetView one, or are you
talking about the GUI interface?.

Subject: Netview 5.1.1. for AIX performance problem
Can someone help us with this performances problem and "ping" problem?
Problem is :
NVCORRD uses 100% CPU; I can't obtain any error msg (or arrive very
later.) so
in this situation (CPU stress) i haven't useful information fron Netview
The problem was initially on NetView 5.1.
I've installed PTF 5.1.1 revision B but the problem seems to be like
before.
With new version installed now there is a "strange situation" :
when I ping an object the pring perform the operation only 1 time.
With version 5.1 the ping goes continuesly (we stop the operation with
"stop" button).
Now the situation is :
.
1- nvcorrd uses a lot of cpu and message don't arrive or arrive later
2- If you ping a 2210 router as discovered it will be pinged 1 time.
If you ping its interfaces it happens continuously until you stop
the ping itself.
.
We have NWays 1.2.3 installed on his system, the system is
IBM RISC F50, 1GB Ram, paging 1,5 GB and OS is AIX 4.3.1.
The machine on which NV is installed soon after the complete loading
of the NV processes shows idle at 0. We have no ruleset loaded
on this machine.
We have a lot of trap traffic (nodes discovered and managed are 1300 !)
I try to use workspace without rulesets but the problem continue.
Now the Netview users usually are 2 or 3 (root + 2 user)
With only 1 user (eg. root) the problem seems to be less frequently
Thanks in advance
