I'm having a problem w/ NetView displaying the generic icon for a Cisco Catalyst 2916XL switch. I downloaded the CiscoView package for the device from Cisco because CiscoView didn't function w/ it either. Looks like that package install updated the appropriate files so that when the box is discovered, it gets the correct bitmap. I'm running Tivoli 3.6, NetView 5.1, AIX 4.2.1, CiscoWorks 4.0, and CiscoView 4.1. ovobjprint on this object shows SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.171. /usr/OV/conf/oid_to_type shows following for this device:
/usr/OV/conf//C/oid_to_sym shows following for this device:
/usr/OV/symbols/C/CVTYPE shows following for this device:
Capabilities {
ls -al /usr/OV/bitmaps/C/*2900* shows:
I'm assuming one of those is the correct bitmap for the 2916XL. I've tried deleting the device from all maps, stopping/restarting netmon and it is rediscovered w/ the generic box. I've tried deleting the device from all maps, stopping netmon, ovmapcount -a, ovmapcount -A, starting netmon and it is rediscovered w/ the same generic box. I also tried running ovw -config, ovw -fields, and ovw -verify and everything looks fine, but I still get the same generic box. SNMP strings are correct, I can snmpwalk the box and get/set variables. The device is getting promoted to the correct submap, don't know what the terminology is for it, but it is displayed just under the IP subnet level where all my correctly displayed hubs, switches, and routers are at for that IP subnet. Don't know if this is related, but the value for isHub is TRUE, which is probably why it is getting promoted, but what's odd is the value for isBridge is FALSE. All my other Cisco Switches (or at least the few that I checked) show isBridge is TRUE. When I go to Edit,Add,Object in NetView, the bitmap for this new device is not showing up there. Did I miss a step? ________________________________________
