Only a fully-discovered node, one with all the major fields set, will
actually appear on a map. If these objects are flusehed with ovtopofix -a
then they are just hints. A hint is an object which is created because of
an ARP entry in some other already discovered node. So in fact, netmon is
not discovering these objects at all and something is probably preventing
him from reaching them. Usually what he does with hints is try to contact
that device and make it into a full-fledged object.

Try putting one of these things in a seed file and see if you have better
luck.

One of the networks I manage is currently growing and netmon is discovering
new nodes all the time, however although it discovers a new node it doesnt
appear on the map.
I have tried ovtopofix -a and these objects have been flushed but when they
are rediscovered they are still not on the topology.
Any ideas?

Thanks Arthur
