I have found that it isn't necessary to be root in order to open a map. What
we have done is to get the httpd to start at boot-up and that way the first
map that opens after that is the map that is used by the web interface. Root
access is only required if the httpd daemon needs restarting.

Gord - you must either have an ovw map up from root or use the
"chmod_web_ovw
-a" command and bring a map up from another user ID...

Hello All.

We are running Netview 5.1 on AIX 4.3.2.

In order for the Web interface to work, I understand that I must have an
running ovw daemon.

But, does this ovw(map) have to be special in any way? i.e. does it matter
what Netview user opens it? I am having socket creation problems.

Gord.
