Maggie,
NetView will NOT poll unmanaged nodes.
But you will receive traps from every agent which is configured to do just
that - send you traps.
What you SHOULD do is to configure your agents NOT to send stuff which
probably nobody is interested in anyway.
What you CAN do is "to just look away" and do nothing about the traps you
receive.
e.g. (valid for NetView for AIX):
* set them to "don't log or display" in Options/Event Configuration/Trap
Customization: SNMP...
* set your "Event Display Application Main Workspace" to "Options/Suppress
Traps From Unmanaged Nodes"...
