APAR NUMBER: IX85506 RESOLVED AS: FIXED IN NEXT RELEASE
ABSTRACT:
IX85506: NSLOOKUP FAILS DURING INSTALLATION OF NETVIEW DATABASE
COMPONENT IF /ETC/HOSTS FILE USED AND DNS NOT USED
ORIGINATING DETAILS:

Installing the TME 10 NetView Database 5.1 component fails if
the system being installed on does not use DNS for name
resolution. The nslookup command is used to resolve the name
of the host and the command fails if there is no name server to
send the request to.
messages received and seen in the Tivoli Framework Product
The following fix, as suggested by Tivoli support, works around the problem:
Rename /usr/bin/nslookup to /usr/bin/nslookup.bkp
.
create a script file named /usr/bin/nslookup and include the
following command lines:
echo Name: hostname
echo A: ip-address
.
Then test the script, then retry the installation.
.
Don't forget to restore nslookup after you are finished.
