error doing backup...

We've got NV 5.1.0 installed and I am trying to get 5.1.2 installed.  In the
instructions it says to
use the wbkupdb command to backup the db's and I've been getting this error
message:

 wbkupdb -d /tmp/nvdb
A program used to save the backup image on the managed node snmpman failed with
exit status 1 (Fri Jan 14 10:31:32 CST 2000 (18): `freopen' failed with code `21
': `/tmp/nvdb').

Backup Failed.

Am I doing something wrong?  Do I need to have a fix before I apply this fix?
