nvsniffer has not been updated in NetView for UNIX V6. It still does not have
the status capability available with the NT version. So your solution is
available only on NT at this time.

Jordi,
It is possible to do this with nvsniffer (NetView NT) but you'll still
have to get the event from TEC >> NetView, plus you'd have to write
a small plug-in application that is responsible for reading the event
and giving the correct nvsniffer status to NetView.

I assume that NetView UNIX will be able to do this in V6. Maybe J. Shank
can shed light on this.

Anyway to give an example on what you'd do...

  1) Get TEC event >> NetView >>
  2) Create file in /tmp with name node.Chrsyler.com entry = "Database
Critical"
  3) nvsniffer is run every five minutes... utilizing the plug-in for
status.
  3) The plugin looks for a file by that node-name... and if it exists sets
the
        exit-status appropriately Normal = 2, Marginal = 3, Fatal = 4.

(In this way... you're controlling the color-change for the
nvsniffer object.

If nvsniffer isn't available to do this... you should probably take a look
at the C-examples for creating/deleting objects. It can be done this way
too...
and at the present time, but it takes more work.

Hello,

i'd like to know if it's possible to integrate the TEC with NetView more
than TIPN offers. This is, for example, if a Sentry monitor detects a
problem with a server's database, this server should change its colour
in NetView map to provide a graphical sight to the TEC (not only
scrolling events). Anyone has experiences in this area?

thanks a lot,
