lls an MLM just like any other box, so port 161/udp is also required. You can
configure MLM to use TCP communication so that you can in fact choose the port
for traps -- it does not have to be 162/udp. I cannot tell you about APM -- not
my area. There have been several folks on this list before who have done this,
so perhaps they will respond.

Subject: [NV-L] Ports required for MLM communication across a firewall

Hello All,
Does anyone have the follwoing scenario implemented:

Netview Server in the DMZ with two MLMs (one is located on the internal
side and the other one is on the external side). The question is what other
ports are required for the MLMs to communicate with the Netview server besides
port 162? The MLMs will be doing discovery in its own network and will report
back to the Netview Manager and will also send traps to the Netview Manager.

Does using APM for policies and poliy distribution require any other ports
to be open? Any comments would be appreciated.
