Please READ the 6.0 Release Notes and the parts in the Installation and
Configuration manual that you are directed to read in the Release Notes. These
are shipped in hard copy with the product. They will tell you precisely how to
migrate. Note that for 6.0 "migration" is now called an "update" installation,
because you do not have to de-install the old product first, as you did in
previous versions.
As noted in the Release Notes the only thing that will not migrate are
user-created or customized security files. Everything else will be migrated.
Of course if you want to take your own backup first, then you could just tar up
/usr/OV to tape or to another filesystem.

Upgrading to Netview 6.0 on AIX : Never upgraded before, Do you have to
save rulesets, Collections, or Defined SNMP?
