I started to experience similar problem since upgrading to 5.1.2.
I have "synchronization" message showing up very frequently on the NetView
map.
By itself it is not a big deal, but when on duty operator selects
node and then right-click to Edit -> Description
Description is grayed-out.
I had done all I know about this.
I mean ovtopofix -A and -a and -C as well.
I did reset_ci and ovmapcount. I exhausted all the options.
I even stopped the netmon with "ovstop netmon" and still the same problem!
Any advise will be very appreciated.
Thanks

Polling intervals should have little to do with synchronization. The map
synchronization you see is the process whereby ipmap asks ovtopmd for all
the
changes to the map since its last close time. ipmap puts up the
"synchronizing"
message to indicate that this is what is going on and he will not accept any
inputs from the GUI. So polling intervals will have no affect unless they
result in very rapid status changes, and this is not likely, since the nodes
would still have to be alternately reachable and then unreachable at every
cycle for the status changes to occur.
As I indicated in my previous note, more than likely the problem is database
corruption of some sort and ipmap is exiting when it comes to that part of
the
update cycle with the corrupted objects.

Hi, Randy
Default polling is set to 5m, and specific nodes are to be polled every
2-3m (about 40 nodes). I don't know whether this poling interval may
affect synchronization.
Thanks.
P.S. And maps are still synchronizing !!!
