Deleting map objects

Netview 6 on NT.
 
I'm trying to delete some router objects on my root map and
I continue to get this message.

Error: You cannot perform the operation.
 
Applications are unable to respond while the map is being updated.
 
Retry when map updating is complete.
=================================================
 
......Anyone have any idea what's going on here?
