Have you tried configuring the tecad_nv6k.err file so as create an error
log you could look at?
Look in the TEC Adapter's Guide for more inofrmaion on how to configure it,
but basically you have to put in a real file name and path.
As an example you could
Configure tecad_nv6k.err to send all messages to C:\temp\tecad.log after
creating this empty file
ovstop tecad_nv6k
ovstart tecad_nv6k
Use nvsnmptrap to send a dummy version of the event you want from a DOS
window to simulate the arrival of the event.
Check the C:\temp\tecad.log for errors

Subject: [NV-L] Netview Trap forwarding to TEC?
We are running NetView 6.0.1 on NT4.0. I need to configure custom trap
event
forwarding from NetView to TEC. The idea being that we would setup a MIB
data point using the NetView data collection utility to poll a node to
check
to see if the set threshold has been exceeded. When the threshold is
exceeded an event would then be sent to TEC. These events as they are
received need to be categorized so that the threshold that has been
exceeded
they can be easily identified.
I have setup a MIB data collection point in NetView using the data
collector
utility to poll the node every 5 minutes for the current value. I defined a
custom trap ID number "1001" and edited the tecad_nv6k.cds that identified
the new trap ID and the new class. I then modified the tecad_nv6k.conf to
identify the new class to enable forwarding to TEC. I have also written a
new baroc file to define the new class in TEC. The problem never shows up
in
TEC to include the reception log.
Has anyone configured this in a production environment? I must be missing
something but I am not sure what part I am missing. Any and all help would
be appreciated.
Thank You
Paul
