Please help

Where can i look for some help, reading material or whatever on the 
location.conf file and seed files, etc.  How the two work with one another.  
What i would like to do is have a seed file and location file setup to build 
the icons and associate them with the correct network type and map. Any lead 
would be appreciated thanks..
