So your problem is basically that
" TRAPs entry like interface up/down 6(11)/6(12) did show up
but there're no entry found
               in NVEvent Control Desk!"
There is nothing unusual about this. The traps that MLM sends are defined
as "log only" by default which means that they will be put into trapd.log
but not on to the display window. When netmon gets them, it re-issues the
standard NetView trap, so that it looks like it s netmon who has donw the
reporting, and those do show up in the event window.

Subject: [NV-L] MLM in puzzle

I've played with MLM for a week now but have problem that I cannot
understand/solve.
the details are describe below.

Environment
===========
          NV 5.1.3 /AIX
10.254.0.21/255.255.0.0
          NT with MLM5.1.3 10.254.1.41/255.255.0.0
          NT (testing managed node)
10.254.0.45/255.255.0.0
<< I know this is not a good environment >>
<< for MLM code I've tested on 5.1.0 and upgraded to 5.1.3.
Result did not change >>

Setting Up
=========
A. Enable SNMP on NT
B. Use NetView MIPs browser to browse and edit one entry using
public/private community
C. Define community name on NVMgr using Option SNMP Configuration
"public" for read and "private" write
D. From the TME 10 NetView menu bar, select Options.Topology/Status Polling
Intervals: IP.....
On the window that appears, make sure the check box for Enable
Polling and Discovery
        Settings is selected
E. Install MLM code on NT (10.254.1.41)
F. Demand poll on MLM node or Restart NT (not doing so, NV donot know that
MLM was active!)
     -> MLM-up arrived
-> mlmDomain_10.254.1.41 created and some nodes were moved from
mlmDomain_default to it
-> MLM Collection updated with new node - 10.254.1.41
-> APM was created with named APMHOST54601
==> all this took quite some time to complete (and active)
G. In MLM Trap Destination Table, There are 2 list in there,
     {NV10.254.0.21_APMHOST} and NV10.254.0.21
I've review both to make sure that mask=254 and the Activation Time
and Deactivation Time are
set to 00:00 and both Activation Day of Week and Deactivation Day of
Week are set to none.

Testing
======
A. Query MLM Alias table : 8 groups are created under name NV10.254.0.21.x
and
NV10.254.0.21.1 contains testing machine IP address and it's enabled
Q1 : I expected to see only 10.254.x.x in all alias tables but
there're some IPs that
is not in the same sub net as MLM.
Q2 : I have tested by changed MLM subnet to 255.255.252.0. All nodes
NV put into
MLM is the same. MLM's subnet do not have any effect on this
but it has
effect when we ask MLM to do discovery.
B. Query MLM Stauts monitor table NV10.254.0.2. It's enabled with poll
interval 120s
C. Issue command netmon -a 51and -a 102,
I see 10.254.0.45 is managed and monitored by 10.254.1.41 (the MLM)
D. Looking at MLM log there're some TRAPs send from MLM to NV

look good so for, BUT

E. I've tested by pull LAN cable of 10.254.0.45 and wait longggg time....
Q3: Status not changed! There's no TRAPs to NV!!!
Q4: Look at the TRAPs closely I see that the TRAPs send to MLM are the
ones listed in
             MLM Network Interface Status Table
Q5: MLM Network Interface Status Table contains only part of IP
address listed in all alias tables
and this table cannot be updated!
Q6: More problem is that TRAPs that sent to NV appears less and less
over time...
TRAPs entry like interface up/down 6(11)/6(12) did show up
but there're no entry found
               in NVEvent Control Desk!
F. After stop MLM, all status updated and work as it should.... Thank you.

Now Any comments, please?
