All,

Here is Tivoli's response to the JRE core issue raised by Kristi Smith back
on the 7th.

Steve,

It seems as though we have two other customers who are having the same
problem as you. We do not have a fix for this at the moment but there is a
workaround if you do not wish to get cores. You can move maptreeserver.reg
from /usr/OV/registration/C to somewhere else other than under C or
registration.

That will prevent the JRE from being started and thus no cores will take
place. However, now you cannot use the web client. Once you start using the
web client and move that file back into place then the problem will start
occurring again. Hopefully by then we will have a fix.

Subject: [NV-L] "Select failed, error code 9" APAR

Tivoli Tech Support was finally able to recreate the "Select failed, error
code 9" MIB Browser problem on both Solaris and AIX in their lab. The tech
says it's related to having a SmartSet that is checking the community name.
They created APAR IY15764 for this problem with a severity of 2 and a
priority of 2. Level 3 should be working on a resolution now.
