In my opinion, the best way is to let Netview discover them. If you
ping them, they should show up. Maybe they are already there. If you
are using a seedfile, it may need adjusting to allow them to be discovered.
They are non-snmp, so they will be represented by generic boxes, and
placed in the Segment level submap. That means you will have to drill
down into a subnet, and then into a Segment to see them. They cannot
be represented at any other level of the submap without snmp. They
are low down, but their status propogates up to contribute to the status of
the subnet. Perhaps that subnet is already in the Location icon you want
them to be in?

If you want to give them special emphasis, you can define a Smartset
(Collection in V5) where nodes are represented without lines or
heirarchy. Since non-snmp nodes have very few extra fields on which
to base a Smartset, you probably will have to make it an object list
type of Smartset, and just list the nodes you want in it. Or perhaps
their Selection Names make a good basis for grouping.

If have a feeling this does not completely address your question. If
that's the case, ask again and tell us more.

Cordially,

I have several IP addresses presented to me that I need to put within a
location in Netview. There will be no SNMP or hostnames associated with
these. I need to place these within the map in the location icon displayed.
What is the best way to introduce these IPs. Thanks for the help!
