netmon -a 8 was introduced at 6.01. What level is your system?
There are two other methods described in the Tivoli KB if you aren't at
6.01:
1. Use the following command:
ovtopodump -l selectionname
Look for "SNMP STATUS POLL" field. If "MAXIMUM TIME", then it is being
pinged, otherwise the time specifies the next SNMP Status poll.
2. "demandpoll" the node.
If the first few lines are ping results, then it is not being SNMP status
polled. If it is being SNMP status polled, look for the results Admin and
Oper status of each interface.

Bob,
I did what you suggested and I get an error message in netmon.trace:
#(MPN:echeva)/home/echeva> more /usr/OV/log/netmon.trace
Unknown action 8
Unknown action 8
#(MPN:echeva)/home/echeva>
Maybe it is a different option.
Thanks and regards,
Juan.

To get a list of snmp-polled nodes use netmon -a 8.

Subject: [NV-L] list of SNMP polled nodes
Hello all,
some time ago I sent an entry to this forum asking about the
possibility of getting a list of nodes whose status is snmp polled (not
pinged) in Netview 6. I didn't get any definitive solution but I think that
I found it now. I didn't check it one by one, but I think it will be
correct or at least it's a clue. And I want to share it with you, also
asking your possible concerns:
I clean /usr/OV/log/netmon.trace
I execute netmon -a12 so I get in netmon.trace the detailed pingList
At the end of the list there are a group of nodes with IP address
0.0.0.0 and remaining seconds to ping 1162738639 (I guess it's the
maximum polling period allowed by netview).
That list are the nodes that are snmp polled for status. The only
problems I've found by now is that in that list are not ALL the snmp
status polled nodes.
Example:
.............................
294: 195.212.248.161 (esrouter1) list = 0x20293448
299: 62.186.206.185 (esrouter2) list = 0x20293448
300: 194.194.204.117 (esrouter3) list = 0x20293448
1162738639: 0.0.0.0 (gbrouter6) list = 0x20293448
1162738639: 0.0.0.0 (esroubar2) list = 0x20293448
---------- end pingList ----------
Any idea/suggestion?
Best regards,
Juan.
