I did not find any documentation, but have a closer look at
/usr/OV/bin/nv6000_smit   - it's a shell script

you're probably more interested in shutting down the enduser interfaces,
so use:     nv6000_smit  KILLEUIS

try shutdown -F in a aixterm window  (this may take a few minutes)
