Pager issue

I am trying to send alpha text to a pager using the following CLI and I get
the No alpha pager message. The pager I am sending to is an alpha pager and
if I send just a numeric string it works ok. What am I doing wrong? See CLI
below:

C:\WINNT>nvpage -h srtvtmrd 9,9999999 "This is a test"
ID(s): 9,6431830(No alphanumeric pager)
