Mel,
The file to change if you want this to globally affect all users is:

/usr/OV/app-defaults/OVw

On or about line 70
-------------------------------------------------
OVw*mapBackground: grey66
-------------------------------------------------
change this to black.

The (AIX) file defining the available colors is in: /usr/lib/X11/rgb.txt

If you want to adjust the background color on a per user basis, copy
the above line to $HOME/.Xdefaults. This will customize the background color
according to each user's preference. $HOME/.Xdefaults overrides
../app-defaults/OVw

We are going to change the default map background color from gray to black
on the main map. I know this has been discussed before, but does anyone
remember the file location and possibly the color code to make this change.

 Thanks!

 Mel
