I am not sure what all you are missing but a backup box should really be a
backup.
That is, you need most, if not all, of /usr/OV/conf. Yes, you need the
symbols directory, and oid_to_type and oid_to_sym from the C subdirectory
as well.
I think you need Cisco Works properly installed on both, or you do not have
a real backup

Subject: [NV-L] Cisco Symbols
Hello To All,
I have two netview systems: Production| Netview 6.0, Framework 3.6.2, Aix
4.3.2 (used to have CW2000)
Backup: Netview 6.0.2, Framework 3.7.1, AIX 4.3.3.7 (NO CW2k)
I transferred he /usr/OV/databases, /usr/OV/bitmaps, /usr/OV/symbols/
usr/OV/fields from Production to Backup.
When I first opened the map all the cisco symbols and labels were identical
to the Production box.
I added and deleted a few nodes from the seed file and the topology map-on
the backup box.i did a ovtopofix -a, and a netmon -y. Now when I open the
default map the cisco routers have the default symbols (crossing arrows)
instead of the 6500 (etc) symbol.
I did :
ovstop netmon
ovmapcount -a
ovtopofix -a
ovstop ovtopmd
ovtopofix -Cv
ovstart -v -d
ovw -config
ovw -fields
ovw -verify
I read the archive for this group and found quite a bit of information. but
they were for V5.0. Has anything changed. Should I add/transfer
/usr/OV/conf/C/symbols directory as well?
Can anyone shed some light into this?
thanks
Catalina
