Erwin,
NetView is not recognizing your custom lan0 symbol.
lan0 is an Interface type symbol. It can only be used at the
Node level of submap hierarchy.
If you are using it above that level you will have problems.

Short answer.... Don't use a custom lan0 symbol...
Let NetView discover whatever it is. (KISS method)
Then use the symbol that appears in the "New Object Holding Area"....
(You have turned off Automatic layout)
Change the graphic if you don't like what NetView draws by default.
You don't have to wait 24+ hours.
Delete the specific lan0 interface.
Then, Demand Poll the router that the lan0 interface is connected to and
it should be redrawn immediately.

Subject: [NV-L] Extra IP Symbol in Object Holding Area!?

Hello,

We have the following problem with Netview 6.02 running on Tru64Unix 4.0f.

After installing Netview on our system we do a custom-configuration and draw
an IP symbol (with the name "lan0") on a submap based on the object
information stored into the Netview topology database. This works fine until
the system is running for a couple of hours (> 24h). At that moment for some
nodes an extra lan symbol is drawn on the same sub-map in splitted map
called the "Object Holding Area". Not all the nodes have this phenomena but
some of them, what is going wrong overhere and how can we prevent Netview
drawing a second IP symbol in this "Object Holding Area".

Regards,

Erwin Nijenhuis
