Use ovtopodump -rl device_name to dump the device information. Look and see
what the "SNMP STATUS POLL" time is set to. If it says anything OTHER than
"MAXIMUM" that means you are using SNMP to obtain status NOT pings. If thats
the case, you may just have a device that doesn't always answer SNMP query
fast enough. You can bump up the timeout/retry value for that device in
XNMSNMPCONF.

If you are not using SNMP status polls, you probably really have a network
issue. As leslie would say "If netview is doing something goofy, then your
network is probably doing something goofy"

Subject: [NV-L] status critical, when the node is alive

I`m running NV 6.0 in solaris
I've got a problem with the status of two nodes. They appear in red,
critical, but pinging them from Netview, they're alive. This situation
continued for 6 or 7 minutes, and then, they appear in green. Why netview
doesnt reflect the status automatically? The operation guys are quite
nervous about this...and me too.

thanks in advanced, Cristina.

Sorry about my silly questions, but I'm a scholarship holder, and the only
person in our company that knows something about Netview, since the person
in charge left. Help please!
