You probably need to convert your database to the Turbo format and
compress it. At 6.0.2, that ovf file is compressed during this process,
while
it was not at earlier releases.
See Appendix G of the Inst & Config manual for more on this.
The compression process will leave a .BAK copy of each
compressed file, so you will need a lot of extra disk space
to do it in. Further, before running the compression, you should
take a backup to disk (tar of /usr/OV/databases/openview).
After the compression, open the maps and make sure all is well,
then erase the .BAK files in
/usr/OV/databases/openview/ovwdb/current and
/usr/OV/databases/openview/topo
Then it will be as small as it is going to get.

hi,
right now i'm tryin' to make full backup of my aix 4.3 but i've got a
problem with a file called value_info.ovf. the file's got more than 1,2 GB
and smitty can not backup it. my question is how to backup it in different
way, and what's the file in fact (visual database???)? i also know, that i
can not use tar command to backup the netview database cause it can't
backup
null files, is it true? what can you recommend me instead of this?
the problem is very urgent:-(((
