This is a multipart message in MIME format.
I thought this was documented as part of the procedure.
Yes, you can just remove the offending descriptions or shorten them down.
If you like you can make backup copies and add them back later.

If you don't do it, then we will be unable to merge the changes in the new
trapd.conf with your old one, so you will not get any of the default
changes made there for 7.1. It probably won't be a big problem, but you
may have to add new stuff later that other people already have. Since
xnmtrap provides a procedure for doing that, it is not a serious issue.

        Subject: [NV-L] Migration 6.0.2 to 7.1

Updating my Netview System from 6.0.2 to 7.1(AIX 4.3.3), thought I would
follow the release note instructions. I have run the chktrapd file against
my trapd.conf and several errors have been reported. From reading the
notes,
I'm not clear where it means 99 fields or 99 words being too long.

To fix these problems should I simply remove some of the description from
the trap ?

Where I to simply upgrade what would the consequences be anyhow?

Thanks
Peter
