[nv-l] How to create a new field in object db?

Hi all,

i want to add a new field in the object database. How can i do that?
The idea is to add a severity field to every node and assign one of 3
severity levels to these nodes (high, minor, less). Depending on this
severity level i want to create SmartSets to use these groups of nodes to
decide how often to poll this nodes, deciding if an event should be
forwarded to TEC or not, ....
Is this a possible approach?
