James,
I am getting the same errors when trying to run the MIB2TRAP command for the Veritas mib 1 or Mib2 mibs
we had just upgraded  our NetView servers to 6.03.

Please send your replies to the list.
I am sorry but I cannot personally pursue user problems from the list.
You will have to call Support and open a problem with them.

Personally, I have never seen a core as in mib2trap at any level.  Generally speaking, if you can load the MIB then mib2trap can parse it, though it may not produce output if the required constructs are not present.   We did make enhancements to mib2trap in 6.0.3, and you might want to just get that level and apply it, since you will have to sooner or later anyway.   If the Support guys you talk to cannot reproduce your problem at the 6.0.3 level, then that is what they will tell you to do -- get 6.0.3.

You can of course still read the MIB and take a shot at defining the traps manually if you want to.  If you make a mistake, there is not real harm done.  When the real trap comes in, you will see a "NO FMT FOUND" message in trapd.log and in the events window which will tell you all about the trap and you can use that to fix your trial definition.

Sorry but that's all I can offer you.
Good luck.

Loading a MIB will not alter trapd.conf in NetView.  Never has.   You must
run  /usr/OV/bin/mib2trap  to create an addtrap script which, if there are
TRAP-TYPE or NOTIFICATION-TYPE statements in that MIB file, can then be
used to update trapd.conf.

If you look at trapd.conf with xnmtrap and click OK when you leave, this
will change the date on trapd.conf, as it is saved again.

I don't understand what "MIBS" is.   If you want your new MIB o be copied
into /usr/OV/snmp_mibs, you must do that yourself.
You didn't say whether your MIB is SNMP V1 Or SNMP V2.  Remember that if
V2, and you use xnmloadmib2 to load it, then you must use xnmbrowser2 to
view it.  There are two loaders and two browsers and they do not share the
same database.

Hope this helps

Netview 6.0.2
AIX 4.3

We are trying to ad mibs from veritas netbackup datacenter 3.4.2.
We have a Mib file. We use load mib but we don't see anything new in the
trapd.conf or MIBS.
But the trapd.conf file have change date.

What are we doing wrong ?
