The
first thing I would do is apply the 6.0.3 patches. See Leslie's recommendations
on this list server.
The
"white (unreachable)" FW is a result of netmon running with Router Fault
Isolation enabled. See the NetView 6.0 Release Notes on disabling it. I think it
is "-K 0" (that's a zero". My users prefer that RFI is
disabled.
How
does a ping to the IP address work from the command line? If it is intermittent
then maybe you want to use SNMP status polling or increase the status polling
retry count via xnmsnmpconf.

I have 2 FW1 from Checkpoint on Solaris with
Stone beat for availability.
In Netview, I observe that this devices become
white (unreachable). I open in the GUI any of the device and test ping any
interface. The ping works and the interface becomes green from
white.
The FW now becomes green.
And then after a while, it is again
white.
the previous test is repeatable and actually all
interfaces are ok if I perform a test ping on them but they are seen as
unreachable by Netview.
Have you seen this behavior before?
NB: I run NV 6.02 on Unix.
