Yes, it is, with qualification. Please read on.
You are mistaken about the delivery mechanism of 7.1.1 as well as the
possibility of the cost, probably because you are not using the correct
terminology.
First, in Tivoli terms, a "patch" is a temporary fix. A patch can be to
multiple parts of a product, but there is little guarantee that all
patches will work together, since they are tested individually. NetView
7.1.1 is not a patch, but a maintenance release, which is an upgraded
product. All the fixes have been tested together as part of a formal
Verification cycle, including regression and migration. You may be able
to download a patch, but you cannot download a maintenance release. It
comes with Release Notes and just as many CD's as the original product
did.
To obtain 7.1.1 you must order it. And to order it, you must have a
current maintenance contract. If your maintenance contract is current,
then the maintenance release, 7.1.1, is free. In effect, you have already
paid for it. New customers get free maintenance for the first year.
To obtain 7.1.1 contact your IBM/Tivoli marketing rep and him or her order
it for you. Or you can send a note to swdist@tivoli.com (only in North
America) and order it directly, but you must provide your Company name,
your customer number (the one under which you obtained the product or the
maintenance contract), a contact person's name and phone, and the address
to which it should be sent. If your maintenance contract is not current,
they will tell you how to upgrade it.
