Brian,

Ok -- here is a bit of a crazy solution that "should" work.

1. Get a second server on the same network as your NetView box. Use a
hostname that matches the box you want to discover. (INTERFACE A)
2. Define a second interface on the second server that matches the
interface you want to manage. (INTERFACE B) that really exists on the
remote box you are trying to add. Note: the second interface does not
have to be active, just defined in the server so NetView finds it in the
MIB.
3. Use loadhosts to put this second server on the NetView map based on
INTERFACE A
4. Drill into the Node icon so you can see the 2 interface icons. Take
the second server off the network.
5. Delete the INTERFACE A icon from "all submaps" within the node submap.
6. Do a demandpoll of the node on the map, it should now be pulling SNMP
information from INTERFACE B which is behind the firewall. If it can read
the MIB properly it should bring in all the other proper interface
definitions.

I do have SNMP Polling enabled for these devices - but I can't get NetView
to recognize them. Trying loadhosts gives the error Requested Object is
Unknown. ICMP is blocked at the firewall so I cannot use it.

Help!

Brian

Have you tried using "loadhost" to put them on the map? you did not say
what version of NetView you have, but I assume it is one that can do SNMP
status polling. Make sure you are setup in the seed file to force snmp
polling.
