I have installed Netview 7.1 on an win2000 server. The installation went
just fine.
When I do the ovstatus command I get following output:
OVsPMD is not running. Cannot get the daemon status.
When I then do the ovstart command I get the following output:
Starting the Tivoli Netview Service and daemons...There was an error
starting the Tivoli Netview Service. The service is already running.
When then do the ovstop command I get the following output:
OVsPMD is not running. Cannot stop the daemons.
So I'm very confused...things that are not running cannot be started
because they are already running and things that are running cannot be
stopped because they are not running..........
This doesn't make any sense....
BUT when I check the Task Mananger in Windows I can see that ovspmd.exe is
running together with following daemons: netmon.exe, nvcold.exe,
nvpagerd.exe, ovtopmd.exe, ovwdb.exe, polld.exe, snmpcollect.exe and
trapd.exe. I cant see that snmpserver.exe and webserver.exe is running...is
that a problem?
I have tried to stop all the daemons manuallly and then do the ovstart
command but then I get the following output:
Starting the Tivoli Netview Service and daemons...ovstart: OVsPMD is not
running. It may have failed to start.
When I then check Task Manager I can see that all the damenons (ovspmd.exe,
netmon.exe, nvcold.exe, nvpagerd.exe, ovtopmd.exe, ovwdb.exe, polld.exe,
snmpcollect.exe and trapd.exe) has started up again.
Which daemons should ovstart really start ? Maybe it is missing some
processes.....
When I start the Netview GUI I cant see any daemons at all under options ->
Server setup -> Daemons.
The nv.log becames enourmes in just a few seconds (100 MB in about 3 min).
When I have the Netview GUI opened, I can see that Netview has detected
nodes.
Anyway it looks like Netview doesn't understand that the daemons are up and
running....even if they were started with the ovstart command.
I have tried the ovstart -v command, but it doesnt't give me more output
than represented here.

This last sentence just fills up the log file.....
Anyone out there that have experienced something like this and have any
tips and hints? I'm very confused about this problem.
