The TEC integration functions previously packaged in the form of TIPN should be available from a vanilla install as of version 7 now. In other words, you should be able to launch a TEC Console to display TEC events for a node on a NetView map via the "Monitor -> Events -> TEC Events" menu. The TIPN function that is now built-in to NetView never had anything to do with event forwarding to TEC, thus it never had anything to do with baroc and ruleset files. This is separate NetView TEC Integration which has recently been enhanced with the release of 7.1.2. It is a pre-requisite to have TEC 3.7.1 with fixpack 2 or above installed. The netview.rls and netview.baroc files are shipped with fixpack 2 (or 3 which is the latest available). Jason is correct in that the nvserverd files are no longer required with NetView 7.1.2, however the netview.rls and netview.baroc files are required and need to be compiled into your TEC rulsebase for support the new integration. The event forwarding is configured and enabled the same way as in version 6 (via the NetView smitty panels or serversetup), and will cause a tecint.conf file to be created/modified. Does this clear things up a little ? Gareth Holl Staff Software Engineer gholl@us.ibm.com IBM Software Group - Tivoli Brand Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
The NetView administrator's guide 7.1 states: "The default event class for these [NV] events is Nvserverd_Event. The class definition is contained in the /usr/OV/conf/nvserverd.baroc file. The Tivoli administrator must import the event class into the current rule base after the tecad_ov.baroc, root.baroc, and tec.baroc event classes." 1) I have no .baroc files in /usr/OV/conf (or indeed anywhere on the NetView server) In Tivoli NetView Release Notes V7.1 it states: "The Tivoli Event Console integration functions previously packaged in the Tivoli Integration Pack for NetView (TIPN) are now incorporated in the base NetView package. These functions include the ability to display TEC events from the NetView user interface and create TEC events groups based on NetView SmartSet membership. Both the Tivoli Management Framework and the TEC Console must be installed on the NetView server for these functions to work." 2) Both T/EC console and TMF are installed on the NetView Server. How are these functions implemented? Any clues anyone? J This message is for the designated recipient only and may contain privileged, proprietary, or otherwise private information.
