RFI only works for Layer 3 devices. So the simply answer is no, it will not work with switches which traditional perform a layer 2 operation. For environments where switches far out number routers, RFI may not be of value to you, even with the new probabilistic algorithms that were introduced into RFI as of 7.1.3. The IBM Tivoli Switch Analyzer product integrates with NetView of 7.1.2 or above to provide root cause analysis for switches (layer 2). Netview 7.1.1 on AIX 4.3.3 Hi all, Ok, I understand that RFI stands for Router Fault Isolation. But could this be used also as SFI (Switch Fault Isolation)? Is it possible to do other root cause analysis?
