If i understand :

to do a netview upgrade install we must at least ever have a old version
installed

WE CANNOT install Netview as a upgrade if we only have the /usr/OV.back.v7r1
directories ?

Am i right ?

Thanks
Dominic

Oliver, Thanks a lot for your advice.

i will test it today and mail the forum if it works

Last question, if i may.

if we take a netview "7.1" backup of our server and import this backup to a
new machine and do a update install with the version 7.1.3, do i need to do
the same procedure that you mention or this known problem is only affect
upgrade with the same version (ex: 7.1.3 to 7.1.3) ?

Thanks
Dominic

Dominic,

this is a known problem.

Our install specialist says that using the upgrade path for a new install
in 7.1.3 may not install the correct Java components because you do not
have a prior version of NetView Java for the script to use to determine
what you need.
His advice was to
(1) Rename the back-up directory for the time being and install 7.1.3
fresh on the box.
(2) Rename the backup directory again, returning it to /usr/OV.back.v7r1
(3) Immediately re-install 7.1.3 this time with the upgrade option.

Kind regards

It seems like the script cannot find java

 '[' -f /usr/OV/jre/bin/java ']'
+ echo Unable to find java, /usr/OV/jre/bin/java does not exist.
+ '[' -f /usr/OV/www_client.tar ']'
