I would agree with Scott. We have servers installed and running with
OpenManage Server agent that are sending traps to Netview. I had no problems
getting temperature, fan, power supply, Adaptec CIO type traps. My only
problem has been with Intel Teaming dual NIC traps that are generated at
Dell servers. I just cant seem to get them in correctly.

Jane, you are right about the IT Assistant. It is a management app. that
works with OpenManage.

As far as I know Jane, there is a dell open manage CD that comes with each
server (many many many different versions) but I am sure that the agent code
is on that CD somewhere. My guess is that it doesn't get loaded on an
average users PC but it should be installed on any server type device. Not
sure if that helps, but I have in the past gotten the dell sub-agent to
respond.

This is a bit off-topic.
I have Dell OpenManage in my environment. I have imported Dell MIBs and
TRAPs into NetView. I can get MIB2 answers out of my Dell box but don't
get any answers to any Dell Enterprise specific questions.

Anyone know exactly what steps I need to go through on the Dell box? I
am assuming there is some sort of Dell subagent that sits behind the
Win2K SNMP agent. Where do I get this? How do I check that it is
there? Does it need configuring?

I have Dell OpenManage IT Assistant also running on the box but this
looks like a management server application rather than an agent app.

Thanks for any clues,
Jane
