[nv-l] tralerd ... event thresholding

Hello list...

I am trying find a way of setting alert thresholds. When I tried to use the
Trap to Filter Control > from Options>Event Configuration > Trap to Alert
filter control and I receive error that tralertd is not running. When
reading man page on tralertd it seems this is used to convert snmp to sna
alerts . So my question is :

is there a way to configure thresholds on an alert before an action is
executed ? we use customized perl scripts to post msg to tec. We do not poll
devices as our environment is too large.
