You don't need to do anything with the linefeeds, just pressing the return key inside the vi editor will put the linefeed in for you. Just make sure you don't put a space before the final EOF, neither put the '>' in front. loadhosts -m 255.255.255.0 <<EOF 10.1.1.1 demohost1.com demohost2 10.1.1.2 demohost2.com demohost2 EOF John Gatrell. l: 0870-010-6284
hello all, attempting to use loadhosts inside a script on UNIX. generally when I want to do a loadhosts it looks something like this. loadhosts -m subnet <<EOF >ip hostname >ip hostname >ip hostname >EOF this works at the command line jsut fine. My issue however is how can I put all that onto one line so that I can put it inside a script? if you look atl the line it has line feed (^J) characters in it but adding them in the script does not seem to work. any suggestions? Thanks Chris Petrina |
