Thread-topic: [nv-l] Cisco MIBs do not work on switches
Sorry if this was already mentioned.

Older Catalyst switches (and some newer ones) run the Catalyst Operating
System, not Cisco IOS. This is a completely different OS (acquired when
they Borged their switch line from another company). Beyond MIB-2 their
supported MIBs are completely different.

Check the sysDescr value. If it doesn't say "Cisco Internetwork
Operating System Software IOS" in it somewhere then it doesn't have the
same MIB support as your routers. See:

http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/Mibbrowser/unity.pl

for info on your specific model.

Debra,
It might help if you gave a more detailed description of what
"had trouble with Cisco MIBs" means. I'm sure the solution to your
problem will be fairly painless and straightforward.

                Regards,

I have Cisco MIBs loaded that are not working for my switches. They do
work for the routers. I am guessing that I need to load a newer version
of the MIBs. I have not had much luck loading MIBs in the past. I am
looking for a safe way to save my current MIB setup and restore it if I
have trouble loading the new MIBs.

Does anyone know of a way to save and restore the current MIB setup?

Also if anyone has trouble with the Cisco MIBs on switches before how
did you fix it?
