When you browse those devices with the MIB browser what do they return for sysObjectID (mib-2 System)? What value is stored for them in the object database? If they match what's in oid_to_type and oid_to_symbol, then that's' what type and what symbol they should have. If not, you should probably call Support. I don't know about what you are referring to with serversetup -- whatever it is, it's not a function I have ever used. But you are correct. Those are all OIDs under the enterprises tree, not MIB-II (or mib-2). James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
Greetings oid_to_type if I look in the actual oid_to_type file in /usr/OV/conf/oid_to_type this is what I have in it 1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.1.2.1.3.1.1:Alcatel AOS:Alcatel AOS:HB 1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.1.2.1.3.1.2:Alcatel AOS:Alcatel AOS:HB 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.3.1.1.3:Xylan:Xylan:HB 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.444:cisco Systems:Cisco Router:G # C1700 I looki n the oid_to_sym file and I have the following entries (abbreviated) 1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.1.2.1.3.1.2:Connector:Multi-port # 1.3.6.1.4.1.6486.800.1.1.2.1.3.1.1:Connector:Multi-port # 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.3.1.1.3:Connector:Multi-port # 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.444:Connector:Gateway # Cisco C1700 I deleted and then rediscovered all these types of devices verified they had proper snmp setup on them and they still return with the generic symbol of computer. am I missing something? Also in the serversetup screen for oid_to_sym if I chose select for the MIB-II none of these show up in the list I have to add them by hand everytime. Is this because their OID's are private enterprise oid's? and not the mgt.mib-ii.system oid's? Thanks Chris Petrina |
