James,
The end result has a lot of the traps, but not all of the traps, from the current trapd.conf file and a lot of the traps, but not all of the traps from the trapd.conf file from the other host...

Never seen that, but then again I usually know exactly what entries are in the import file I want to import and none of them duplicate what is in the original.

Note however that nvaddtrapdconf WILL NOT overlay an entry you already have.  It will only add new ones.
Could that be the problem?

Has anyone noticed that when you use "nvaddtrapdconf" to merge the trap definitions from one Netview server to another, that the result does not appear to have all the entries from either trapd.conf file?

It looks more like a mix and match smorgasbord.
